WELCOME

Telefónica Group provides its services to people and businesses in more than 25 countries, and is a key stakeholder fully involved in the success of the digital world, but is also working for a social and economic sustainability for the future.

Telefónica´s Public Policy Blog is where you will find our global views on Digital Communication, Broadband, Internet Policy and also issues related to building a Sustainable Society. This is a place to exchange views and opinions on global policy issues which will shape our common digital future.

With this blog, Telefónica wishes to share its views on global policy issues concerning Digital communication, Internet, Broadband and Sustainability, but also receive your feedback and ideas. This is a new direction for us, so please send us your views on how we can make this Blog a better place to have conversations with stakeholders.

We hope that this blog will bring a new opportunity for dialogue and exchange of views.  Please follow us and join our community!

Eduardo (@Eduserra79) is Manager of Public Affairs at the Permanent Representation Office in Brussels since February 2009. He joined the Telefónica Group in November 2006 and has been dealing with Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility issues for more than 5 years. Eduardo holds a Master of Science in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Universidad Complutense (Madrid). He is a big football fan and is a member of Real Madrid Club de Fútbol since 1994.

Natalia (@pitirrojo) joined the Public Policy department of Telefónica S.A. in May 2010 as a Manager. She has been working at Telefónica Group in several departments since 1999, mainly linked to European and International Regulation and Relationships with Institutions. Based in Madrid, Natalia holds a Master in Telecommunications Law from ICADE (Madrid, Spain) and a Master in International Organisations from Paris XI University (France), where she studied European and International Law. She also holds a Degree in Spanish Literature from the Toulouse-Le-Mirail University (France).
She is married and has 3 lovely children who take most of her spare time! She is curious and fond of  the innovative ways to communicate in our digital era.

Alejandro Vidal is Bachelor in Physics Sciences from University Complutense in Madrid. He began his professional career in the company ALCATEL in Madrid in engineering and design of Switching Systems. In 1987 he joined Telefonica of Spain to monitor the participation of Telefonica in the European Programs in the departaments of Technology and International Cooperation. Now, as Manager of Public Policy at the International Office of Telefónica S.A., is responsible for their representation in international forums and organisms such as ITU, ETSI. ICC, IGF, etc .
He is currently the Chairman of Convergence Committee of AHCIET.

Javier is Manager of Public Policy at the International Office of Telefónica, S.A. He joined Telefónica in October 1990 and has been dealing with international organizations such as ETNO, ITU, ICC, ETSI, IGF and ICANN among others. He has also been involved in Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility issues and in developing  a stable relation of Telefonica with users’ associations in Spain. Javier is Industrial Engineer from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and is fluent in Italian and English. He loves skiing, sailing and travelling.

Carlos Rodríguez joined Telefónica in 1999 as a Legal Adviser for the Directorate of EU & International Regulatory Affairs in Madrid.  In 2003 he moved to the position of Senior Adviser in EU & International Regulatory Affairs in Telefónica’s Brussels Office.  Five years later he crossed the Atlantic to the position he currently holds, as Manager of Regulatory Affairs for Telefónica International USA, based in Washington DC.  Within this position he is tracking the regulatory policy debate in the United States, anticipating potential issues of interest for Telefónica as a global player in Europe and Latin America and building relationships with US stakeholders.  Carlos holds a degree in Law and shares a keen interest in global affairs with a local passion for his home region Asturias.
