This week, on Wednesday 25th, the Fundación Telefónica will host the presentation of the yearly report untitled “Information Society in Spain 2011″, its 12th edition.
What could be highlighted for 2011?
In 2011, connections to the Internet in Spain have continued to rise, fundamentally due to mobile broadband, at the same time as the smartphone has become the top selling terminal in the world ahead of the PC. The year has also been marked by the move towards an Internet which is personally and professionally more productive, beyond mere entertainment. We could also underline the dynamism of the more mature groups of the population, the redefinition of the way in which digital content is being used and, generally, the way in which the Internet is used.
This report gathers the main indicators, data and changes describing the evolution of the sector in Spain in 2011.
The first chapter presents the 10 key points from the year.
The second chapter gathers in a visual form the most important information regarding network connectivity and access availability, as well as the terminals which permit enjoyment of the Information Society. In addition, the report analyses issues concerning the impact made by the use of Information and Communication Technologies in different fields and sectors of the economic and social reality.
The third chapter presents a study, based on Telefónica data, in order to understand digital life and reality.
Finally, in the fourth chapter, the report summarises the views of each and every one of the Autonomous Regions.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday 25th January at 12h00, at Telefónica District Auditorium, with the participation of Mr. César Alierta, Chairman of Telefónica S.A. and closed by Mr. José Manuel Soria, our new Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism. The presentation will be made by Mr. Javier Nadal, executive vice-chairman of Fundación Telefónica.
At the end of the ceremony, copies of the report will be handed out and a Spanish wine will be served.
