Report on ICTs and the Financial Sector of the Future

This evening, Fundación Telefónica will present the “ICTs and the Finacial Sector of the Future” report, which analyses innovation in the financial sector.

What is the relationship between ICTs and the Spanish financial sector?

The Spanish financial sector has been one of the pioneers in bringing ICTs into its productive model, an effort that has allowed financial entities to become more competitive, and, at the same time, increase customer satisfaction.

Innovation in the financial sector has aimed to provide solutions that increase the availability and the immediacy of the services through a synergic evolution over the course of the last forty years.

The use of ICTs has allowed to:

  • improve operating efficiency ratios
  • attract new customers
  • improve relationships with current ones.

The report

The report first presents a summary of the structure and the role of the financial system in Spain, as pre-requirement to understand the complexity of the financial system and the very need of ICTs to handle it.

Then, the report addresses the relationship between the ICTs and the Spanish financial system, from a historical, functional and business point of view.

Finally, the report concludes with a last chapter covering the latest trends and offering some insight on how the relationship between the ICTs and the financial sector will evolve in upcoming years.
